Graham Norton has caused a wave of complaints to the BBC after wading into 'Manuelgate' and insulting Andrew Sachs with a filthy joke, claiming "This scandal is just the tip of the iceberg. Wait till they find out that Bruce Forsyth shagged Andrew Sachs’ great-great-grandmother. Then there’ll be trouble."
The BBC has only just recovered from the scandal that saw Russell Brand resign from his position at Radio 2, and top-paid chat show Jonathan Ross suspended for 12 weeks. A spokesman for the network said: "This was clearly an irreverent comment in keeping with the style and tone of the comic monologue that opens the show. It was in no way intended to cause offence to Bruce, Andrew or anyone."
