Michael Jackson's estate signs "best ever" $200m record deal with Sony

The administrators of Michael Jackson's estate have signed a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment that is already being called "the biggest deal ever in music" - in truth, it's no such thing (you can call any deal the biggest ever if you play with the numbers), but it does guarantee his estate a minimum of $200 million over the next seven years, according to TMZ.

The Associated Press says that the deal will deliver ten new MJ projects over that period, including the first album of new, previously-unheard material this November. In total, the deal will earn Michael's estate (and therefore, his children) between $200 million and $250 million.

Posh rushes to Becks' side in Finland

Victoria Beckham looked visibly upset as she rushed through LAX airport to catch a flight to Finland on Monday evening, hurrying to be at husband David's side as he undergoes the surgery that he hopes will save his football career. Posh cut short a long weekend holiday for their sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz to join her husband in Europe, while the boys remain behind at a San Diego holiday resort and spa with their grandparents and their security staff.

I hope Posh is the tonic David needs.........

He deserves a better end to his international footballing career than this, doesn't he???

Irish 'X Factor' popsters John & Edward have been dropped by Sony after just one single.

The twins failed to make it to number 1 with their debut single 'Under Pressure', so the label have decided to cut their losses and release them. Manager Louis Walsh isn't downhearted though, declaring his loyalty last night: "I am completely committed to Jedward and I know they still have a great career ahead. The boys have a sell-out tour in Ireland straight after the 'X-Factor' tour in April and I'm in talks with a major record label about a new deal for them."

Peter Andre thinks his manager can turn Kerry Katona's career around

Peter Andre has said he's very happy that fellow reality star Kerry Katona has signed up to his manager Claire Powell of CAN Associates, saying she's in "safe hands". He tells 'new!':

"I’m delighted to have Kerry on board and think that if anyone can sort Kerry’s career out, Claire can.
Kerry has a lot of things in her life that she needs to deal with and Claire is just the person to help. Kerry can trust her completely and Claire can help her get her life back on track."

Ashley Cole begged Cheryl to delay split until the World Cup was over

As I reported exclusively in February, it has been confirmed that Ashley Cole begged his wife Cheryl to delay the announcement of their split until the World Cup was over in July this year.

At the time, a source close to Cheryl told us: "It's been really bad for a very long time, but I think they plan to last until the summer and get through the World Cup together. They will probably announce that they've split when they both get a break in August." A report out in tomorrow's edition of The Sun adds that she eventually "hit the roof" at his request, and went ahead with the announcement of their separation via her PR company anyway. At the time, I also exclusively revealed that the couple had been living separately since the start of the year.

There's no surprise that they took their time to consider the best possible timing for their careers -- after all, Kate Winslet confirmed yesterday that she'd actually split with her hubby earlier this year but chose to announce it now, while their kids are out of the UK on a Mexican holiday. I'm glad Cheryl and Ashley abandoned their plan, it would have got intolerable now!

My least favourite comic (apparently some people find him funny), James Corden, has just revealed a shameful secret - his middle name, which got him bullied for years back at school:

"My middle name is Kimberly.  Every man in my family has it – it’s a tradition.
For ages I pretended it was Karl, but my sister was going out with one of my mates and told him, then he told the whole school. It wasn’t great."

Well, none of JLS are shy -- but now Aston's really ready to put it out there. He's dismissed reports that he's dating ex-WAG Sophie Houghton, appealing to girls to come ask him out.

He tells Star magazine:

"I have never met her in my life. Never. I don’t understand how it became a story. It’s all been completely made up. We were supposed to have met at the show in Hammersmith and it’s not true. I’m single and looking for love."

Ok, form an orderly queue, ladies. I'm sure Aston won't be short of young, female admirers!!
