I love this space - a solution to entertainment space for the 21st Century
Where is it?
Squeezing itself underneath the A40, Westbourne Studios is the future of London building projects. Housing a cinema, event space, studios and offices for such illustrious figures as Sir Bob Geldof it’s also home to Under The Westway, and is located close to Westbourne Park tube station on Acklam Road.
What's it like?
Keeping everything contemporary and chic, the cream and black colour scheme is easy on the eye with a black felt covered pool table and heavy leather furniture. The road overhead forms the roof and you should keep a look out for the graffiti wall, an original feature that forms part of the support for the road above. It could be said the daytime at Under The Westway is somewhat like the quiet before the storm, it’s easy to take some time for a coffee and chat, but at around 9pm every night things get a little more lively with everything from live music to up-and-coming DJs. A great menu that runs all throughout the day is accompanied by a very reasonably priced drinks menu, offering every drink imaginable. Try and make the most of the fantastic cocktails though, priced at around £6-£7…be it the Westside Spring Punch or the Blueberry Julep, two or three of any and you'll find yourself on your back! Keep an eye out for the door staff, after 10pm they get a bit heavy-handed with non-members, once you’ve manoeuvred your way past them though, it’s plain sailing and you’re in for a night that’ll make you wonder if you’ve been let in on something that little bit extra special.
Why does Johnny Ikon love it?
If you’re looking for a unique setting, a hip crowd, delicious cocktails and great prices, Under The Westway makes a welcome change to the boredom of typical Notting Hill pubs and dingy clubs.
