Outstanding, with a door policy so strict you probably don't even know it's here
Where is it?
Located under Automat, its club 'Almada' is located close to Green Park tube station and accessed via entrances on either Berkeley Street or Dover Street. Often secretively referred to by its address rather than its name, if you get in here you know you're important!
What's it like?
Nobody gets in unless invited to a private party being held here or accompanying one of the 'friends' of the club - it's not even open to members yet! This has kept the guest list pretty stellar, with George Clooney, Emma Watson and Princess Beatrice all holding private parties here. Once inside, the venue is big and open with dark wood furniture and a 1930's American wood-panelled library feel. Quiet, cosy and intimate (there's often more staff than guests), it's pretty faultless. The American menu is fantastic, with mouthwatering steaks, heavenly burgers and vast racks of lamb dominating the menu. It's not cheap though, with main courses around £18-30.
Why does Johnny Ikon love it?
Almada at Automat pulls off what many clubs claim to be and aren't - it's truly exclusive. Other places are more happening, other restaurants have food that equals their quality, and there are cheaper venues to buy your champagne, but then you'd have to share the pleasure. The reason this place is so sweet is that you know no one else is sharing your experience!
