Elegance, drama and history inform these two intimate venues

Review

Where is it?

The Kingly Club brand consists of two clubs - the original Soho venue is located on Kingly Court, a short walk from Piccadilly or Oxford Circus tubes and just off Carnaby Street on the site of what was once the legendary Pinstripe Club. The brand new club, which includes sexy Japanese restaurant Kyashii, is on Upper St Martin's Lane, round the corner from Leciester Square tube and opposite Stringfellow's.

What's it like?

Recently refurbed Kingly Club Soho is very intimate, with a small capacity and a focus on well-executed cocktails and personal service. Expect the staff to know your name and what you drink after a few visits! St Martin's Lane is a different story, with a venue spread over three floors with amazing Japanese restaurant in the basement, cocktail bar on the ground floor, and a members' mezzanine level above it. It's less personal, but its product (food and drink) are just as exceptional.

Why does Johnny Ikon love it?

I love the personal service and high standard that everything at both of these venues is done with. Nothing beats retiring to the Kingly Club at the end of a night out to finish the night off over a 'Kingly Cooler' - a mix of peach vodka, lime and passionfruit that's super-sweet.
